Artist's Statement: 

The small size of this sculpture implies insignificance. The content look on the face seems ordinary. But it’s cognizant. That face is acutely aware of a monumental step forward and is understanding the immensity of breaking through layers of resistance, layers, that have for too long, destroyed the potential for a brilliant life.
