Locked Energies

Artist's Statement:

I was drawn to what happens when sight is surrendered and speech is made impossible — when two people must abandon their most dominant senses and meet each other somewhere deeper. The burlap is not a veil of shame or submission. It is a chosen blindness. A deliberate silencing. The dulling of ordinary perception as a prerequisite for something more precise: the locking of energies between two souls who have decided to truly find each other. And so they kneel. The kneeling pose carries the full moral weight of the piece. These figures are not standing — poised for exit, capable of turning and walking away. They have lowered themselves into a position that requires intention to leave. Kneeling is a declaration. It speaks of faith, of chosen vulnerability, of a commitment entered not in comfort but in full awareness of what is being offered and to whom. To kneel before another person is to say: I trust you with my instability. I am not going anywhere easily. “Locked Energies” is ultimately a sculpture about the architecture of devotion — the strange and beautiful geometry two people create when they choose to fuse, to stay, and to trust what they cannot see, to trust the quiet.
