Artist's Statement:

There is no human experience more primal, more universal, or more privately extraordinary than the moment a body becomes two.

I did not make this work to shock or to sentimentalize. I made it because the act of bringing life forward deserves to be looked at directly — not softened into greeting card language, not sanitized into abstraction. The figure before you is tired and she is powerful and she is both of those things at the same time, which is exactly what makes her human, and exactly what makes this moment worthy of being held in clay.

She is every woman who has ever arrived at the threshold between one world and two.

She is the threshold itself.
