Artist's Statement:

Serene and luminous, this face emerges from a square clay panel dotted with circular impressions — celestial bodies, perhaps, or simply the quiet rhythm of a hand that found its pattern and followed it. She too looks inward and upward simultaneously, eyes almost closed, expression held in perfect stillness. Her pale, unglazed surface glows with the warmth of fired earth. The wooden base below is deeply textured, ancient-feeling, as though she has just been lifted from the ground where she has waited patiently for centuries. She does not need the stars explained to her. She already knows.
